Database and Server Training That Actually Makes Sense

We built this program because we got tired of seeing smart people struggle with backend concepts that should be straightforward. No jargon overload. No theoretical nonsense you'll never use. Just practical database and server skills taught by people who actually work with this stuff daily.

How We Approach Backend Training

Most courses throw you into complex architecture before you understand the basics. We do the opposite. You'll start by building simple databases that solve real problems, then gradually layer in complexity as things start clicking.

Our autumn 2025 cohort runs for sixteen weeks, starting September. Two evenings per week, plus weekend lab sessions where you can get unstuck when something isn't working. And trust me, things will break. That's kind of the point.

By week six, you're managing multi-table relationships. By week twelve, you're optimizing queries that would make junior developers sweat. The progression isn't accidental—we've refined it over three years of watching where people hit walls.

Our instructors work on production systems during the day. When they show you something, it's because they used it last Tuesday, not because it's in a textbook somewhere.

What Sets This Program Apart

Who's Teaching This

Finley Ashworth, Lead Database Instructor

Finley Ashworth

Lead Database Instructor

Spent eight years managing database infrastructure for logistics companies. Got into teaching after mentoring junior developers and realizing he enjoyed explaining complex systems more than just building them.

Sienna Thornbury, Server Architecture Specialist

Sienna Thornbury

Server Architecture Specialist

Backend developer who's rebuilt legacy systems at three different companies. She's particularly good at explaining why certain approaches fail under load—usually because she's seen them fail.

Rhiannon Huxley, Security and Optimization Coach

Rhiannon Huxley

Security and Optimization Coach

Came from financial services where database security wasn't optional. She'll make you paranoid about SQL injection in the best possible way. Also runs the weekend troubleshooting labs.

Getting Started Is Straightforward

We keep the enrollment process simple because the actual learning is challenging enough. No entrance exams or portfolio requirements—just a conversation about what you're hoping to learn and whether this program fits.

1

Initial Conversation

Reach out and we'll schedule a twenty-minute chat. We'll ask about your current technical background and what you're hoping to build. Honestly, most people qualify—we're more interested in motivation than existing skills.

2

Review Course Materials

We'll send you the full syllabus and schedule for the September 2025 intake. Take a week to look it over, check if the timing works, and see if the topics align with what you need. No pressure to commit immediately.

3

Secure Your Spot

Classes cap at eighteen students because that's the maximum where everyone gets meaningful attention. Once you confirm, you'll get access to pre-course materials so you can hit the ground running in September.
